The Rosary

The Rosary is just a superstition. It consists of five decades. Each decade is preceded by the Our Father. Then there are ten mysteries. Then it ends with the Glory be.

St Dominic never claimed that an apparition of Mary gave him the rosary.

There are no documents saying he did.

The Catholic Encyclopaedia states that Alan de Rupe was a Dominican who died in 1475 was too imaginative to listen to and he was the first to suggest that Dominic gave us the rosary. De Rupe “based his revelations on the imaginary testimony of writers that never existed”. De Rupe had a dream in which Dominic seen Mary and was told to create and promote the rosary and that was his evidence!

The Hail Mary was at the time of Dominic nothing more than, “Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee and blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.” Later, Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death” was added.

The fifteen mysteries of the Rosary appeared in the 1500’s and Pope John Paul II raised it to twenty mysteries.

Yet in the apparitions of Fatima and other apparitions, the rosary was treated as essential for getting blessings of world peace etc from God. The emphasis is suspicious. Catholic culture was saturated with the rosary and that was the real reason the visionaries imagined Mary would emphasise it.
